-Abstract-
Organic dye molecules have received considerable attention due to their potential for chemosensing and bioimaging. A conventional strategy for sensor development is a target-oriented approach based on known molecular recognition mechanisms of individual analytes. However, this sophisticated rational design does not always guarantee the practical use of the sensors in complex biological systems. Therefore, the speed and the scope of sensor discovery have been limited. To overcome these limitations, diversity-oriented approaches have been applied for sensor development and have shown many successful examples. The seminar will review recent diversity-oriented dye library synthesis and discuss about practical optical sensor discovery from high throughput screening of library compounds.
