Research Topic

The Kim"s group is studying the fundamental light-molecule interactions that occur in nanometer scale. Broadly, our research interests include spectroscopy of individual nanostructures and single molecules, and development of noble "chemical" nanoscopy techniques. To investigate the phenomena that are occurring in nano-scale world, we extensively use the state-of-art microscopy and sensitive spectroscopy techniques such as apertureless near-field scanning microscopy and surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). Currently, we are mainly, but not exclusively, interested in understanding how the localized plasmons of noble metal nanoparticles interact with another plasmon and with nearby molecules.
