Active Materials and Biomolecules: Surprises and Research Opportunities
Date : November 9, 2017 16:30 ~
Speaker : Steve Granick(UNIST & IBS)
Location : Magam Hall, Bldg 500
Active Matter, a highly interdisciplinary field involving scientists and engineers, is a fast-growing area of materials physics today. These peculiar systems are intrinsically away from equilibrium and exhibit a beautiful variety of emergent behavior at mesoscale and beyond. Self-assembly, non-equilibrium, driven matter, micro-swimmers, collective activity -- these are just a few of the concepts and buzzwords in this emerging field. This talk will emphasize surprises and research opportunities.
