Date: 2009. 3. 12, 5:00 PM Place: Mogam Hall, Bldg 500 - Abstract - Mussels, are common creatures on the coast all over the world, inhabit being stuck on the rock powerfully. While common adhesives are weak against water, bioadhesion of mussels is water-resistant. Furthermore, mussels can stick to various materials such as rocks, feathers, skin of the whale, water plants, plastic and glass in water condition. In this talk, we will discuss bioadhesion of mussels at molecular level and introduce applicable possibility on broad areas.
