Organoboron compounds are versatile intermediates in synthetic organic chemistry. Transition-metal catalyzed additions of boron reagents to carbon–carbon multiple bonds have become important tools for the synthesis of organoboron derivatives. My research group has previously developed catalytic asymmetric reactions using copper catalysts with high levels of regio- and enantioselectivity; asymmetric conjugate reduction, asymmetric borylation and hydroboration.1 In this seminar, I will present our recent developments in the field of copper-catalyzed stereoselective synthesis of organoboron compounds,2 including tandem C–C bond forming reactions using boron-containing organocopper species (I and II) and asymmetric hydroboration of 1,1-disubstituted alkenes.
