-Abstract-
Pyridine-containing ligands are very important ligands for the study of coordination chemistry and supramolecular chemistry. They can be easily modified and can coordinate with different metal ions to form complexes of different geometries. The introduction of chiral element in these ligands gives a new dimension in these studies.
In the talk, the preparations of several different classes of chiral polydentate pyridine ligands and their reactions with transition metal ions to afford different supramolecular complexes will be discussed. Their uses in the study of reaction mechanism, catalysis and supramolecular recognition will be explored.
