- Abstract -
Direct structural analysis methods, such as X-ray crystallography, are well suited for stable and crystalline compounds but in situ observation poses a significant challenge given the transient nature of unstable intermediates. Recently, we demonstrated that the pores of porous coordination networks can be used as crystalline molecular flask in which chemical reactions can occur. The robust networks maintain crystallinity and enable direct observation of the reaction products by X-ray diffraction. In this talk I would like to demonstrate that various reactive intermediates can be directly observed during crystallographic monitoring of chemical reactions within a "crystalline" flask.
